The client
TShane Johnson is a Marine veteran, Rotarian, business owner, best-selling author, motivational speaker, coach, and father. When he was younger, he died three times after a terrible motorcycle accident by Corona, CA. He was driving when a gang ran him off of the road; he crashed into a wall. He was bleeding out, but somehow managed to drag himself to a nearby fire station. They called in an airlift and he flatlined thrice. In addition to this traumatic early-life experience, he also overcame two years of being homeless on the East Coast. Eventually, he became the CEO of an extremely successful start-up mortgage company.
To share his story with the world and give back, TShane started Hike Across America, running from coast to coast to inspire the homeless, veterans, and local communities while raising awareness about veteran suicides.
The situation
We discovered TShane’s moving story online, and blindly reached out to him to learn more about how we could support his incredible work for Hike Across American and veterans. He was gearing up to start his fourth Hike Across America tour, where he covers 22 miles each day along the East Coast, stopping to speak at many notable venues. All proceeds benefit the Gary Sinise Foundation's R.I.S.E program, which is building specially adapted smart homes for our most severely wounded heroes.
He then told us that on the tour, he planned to break the Guinness World Record for the fastest one-mile time carrying a 100-lbs pack; additionally, he was working to release his next book. We knew we had to be a part of this inspirational journey!

We secured brand partnerships and consistent talk show guest appearances for TShane in top markets across the country, including spots on Good Day DC, Good Day Charlotte, and BEONDTV’s The Carlos and Lisa Show. TShane was also profiled in Chef Robert Irvine’s Magazine, and provided expert commentary in a variety of top-tier online publications such as Livestrong.com and The Gentleman Racer.
He challenged the Guinness World Record for fastest one-mile time carrying a 100-lbs pack. He broke the record, and he’s now gearing up to break the world record for most push-ups in a 12-hour period: for which we will create an additional PR campaign.
